Cathy Zhang
Cathy Zhang (they/them) is a chemistry graduate student advised by Prof. Richard Silverman. They graduated from Macalester College in 2022 with a B. A. in Chemistry and a minor in Biology. They focus on developing and synthesizing new small molecules as potential treatments for various neurological diseases. Cathy loves books, movies, and dancing with K-pop. |
Aaron Shoemaker
Aaron Shoemaker (he/him) is a chemistry graduate student co-advised by Prof. Karl Scheidt and Prof. Bryan Hunter. He graduated from Lafayette College in 2022 with a B.S. in Biochemistry. He works on designing heterogeneous electrocatalysts for small molecule oxidations and other transformations. Aaron loves running, playing tennis (though badly), learning Japanese, and reading. |
Nick Fisher
Nick Fisher (he/him) is a chemistry graduate student advised by Prof. Neil Kelleher. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2022 with a B.S. in chemistry and a minor in mandarin. His research focuses on developing mass spectrometry methods for studying protein complexes and their post-translational modifications. Outside of the lab he enjoys taking voice lessons, cooking, and playing video games. |
Ezra Marker
Ezra Marker (he/they) is a chemistry graduate student co-advised by Prof. Franz Geiger and Prof. Regan Thomson. HE graduated from Lawrence University in 2022 with a B. A. in chemistry and a minor in environmental studies. When they're not using sum frequency generation to study hematite:electrolyte interfaces, he enjoys spending time in nature, playing video games, and reading science fiction. |
Alexis Martell
Alexis Martell (he/him/his) is a chemistry graduate student advised by Prof. Julia Kalow. Raised in sunny Las Vegas, Alexis traded the heat for the cold and moved to New York in 2015. He graduated from Cornell University in 2019 with a B.A. in chemistry with minors in inequality studies, LatinX studies, and business. Currently, his work focuses on elucidating network formation within covalent adaptable networks, a subset of materials which bridge the gap between thermosets and thermoplastics. Outside of lab, Alexis enjoys riding his bicycle around the city, sweating it out at the gym, and procrastinating by watching YouTube videos! |
Casandra "Clover" Moisanu
Casandra "Clover" Moisanu (she/her/hers) is a chemistry graduate student in the Dichtel Research Group. She graduated from Cornell University in with a B.A. in Chemistry in 2021 with minors in Psychology and Law & Society. Her work focuses on organic supramolecular assemblies. In her free time, she's part of the NU Basketball Band as well as the Lakeside Pride Marching Ensemble, playing with the trumpets. |
